I usually switch off Cross Country Checkup because of the painful call-ins even before I sort out the guest's editorial slant.

I grew up assuming that there was no way for a radio host and a listener to have a non-cringe-inducing interaction until I started listening to Dian Rehm and some other NPR hosts. CBC usually holds it's own against NPR, why are we facing such a frightening Call-In Gap?

There's not much that's random about this post. Or mealy-mouthed, to continue an earlier conversation. I can't stand Rex either. I almost chucked the wind-up radio outta the cupola on more than one occasion during CCC. Thanks for posting this.
