I deleted my old Substack

Substack is American owned, fascism friendly, and is run with the ethos of private equity.

When Substack first came out, I signed up to check it out.

They did some things right and they’ve increased their marketshare in fits and starts. And they had a few users that I respect and enjoy to follow.

But they do a bunch of things wrong including, in no particular order, that they don’t do well in open search, they have limited features, there are branding and ownership challenges, and, oh yeah, they do business with nazis.1

People continue to move their companies and newsletters away from Substack. Some common alternatives seem to be Beehiiv, Ghost, Fastly, Medium, and WordPress.
